I currently own a 2008 Ford F-250 Diesel short bed, which only has 45,000 original miles on it. According to technical manuals associated with that year of vehicle, I have the ability to to a maximum weight of 15,300 pounds. I am thinking I do not want to get too close to my max weight for fear of burning too much diesel, and having to really slow down when I am encountering heavy mountainous terrain.
My question is this, what is a "happy weight" I should be shooting for when deciding on buying a 5th wheel trailer early next year (2018)? Looking for answers from any and everyone.
