We are currently staying at Smith Lake at Fort Bragg and experienced a hot water problem and discovered the a simple but not readily apparent fix. I share this to help others experiencing a similar problem.
A few days ago, I noticed that our hot water in the MH was lukewarm at best. I felt that I had a major problem with my hot water tank. Whether it was running in the propane or electric mode did not matter. I was not looking forward to getting maintenance on the tank but felt that I had little other choice.
I went to another RVing website and did some research. Several posts suggested that the outside shower had been left on. At that point, I remembered that I had rinsed some mats off the day before the problem started. When I went to my utilities compartment, I found that I had left both the hot and colder water controls on. It is easy to do since the the shower head actually is hand operated. I turned the water off in the compartment and in a few minutes I had lots of hot water.
Once you leave the outside shower on, it allows both cold and hot water to circulate together given you the sense that the water heater is not functioning correctly. Such a simple yet not obvious problem. I thought that I would share this experience for what it is worth.
