I origanily wanted to get a blue ox towing system with the Brake buddy. However, the roadmaster sterling towing package was on sale at camping world for a $1000 less so thats how I got the Even Brake system since its made by roadmaster. What does SMI stand for? I dont recall ever seeing any systems advertised other than the brake buddy or even brake systems.

Have no idea what SMI stands for. Just the name of the company. Their new brake system is called Air Force 1 and is a plug and play unit. The box is completely different and can be mounted permanently under the driver's seat. My older unit is hard wired with electric wires and air hose that hook to the box when I place it between the brake pedal and driver's seat.

Let me add another problem with the Even Brake - it won't work worth a hoot at altitude. At 8,000' elev. it took 30 minutes to get the air pumped up. At 11,000' we gave up after 45 minutes. Roadmaster WILL be getting a call.

Hi Rich Henry,
We are in a 55+ retirement community in Taylors, SC ( www.everest-owners.com/photos/showfull.php?photo=1257 ). There is a Northern Tool store out on Woodruff, Rd. ( www.northerntool.com/stores/greenville-south-carolina.htm ). They also have lots of good things we use for our RVing adventures.

Haven't had the toad up higher than the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Let us know what you find out from roadmaster. One other thing I found out is that the set up procedure in the owners manual dosen't work. we can't seem to get it working using it. However, after everyting is hooked up I pull the break away connector and then plug it back in and it seems to work fine. not pleased with the overall experience but it seems to work now and by law we need to have the breaking system on the toad since its over 3000 lbs (2008 Honda CRV)
