Charging Batteries

Charging Batteries was created by skyking8
I was considering using a ac/dc trickle charger or solar charger for my MOHO batteries instead of using the onboard inverter and keeping the rig plugged into shore power. Has anyone tried that?
I've got 6 house 12V batteries and assume they are in parallel since everything inside is 12v. If one attaches the leads to the first would that then charge the rest? I have two engine batteries and haven't checked if they are series or parallel. It's a diesel engine so not sure if that's 12 or 24v starter. If they were to be two 12s in series, how would you attach the cables to that?

For all things relating to solar/battery charging, our favorite source is:
www.amsolar.com
They have good prices and do exceptional work. They also sometimes have used solar panels. check out their web site and give them a call if you have questions. This is NOT a hard-sell outfit, but they are long on education!

Mustang03: If it's a 24V system be careful of charging the batteries. They must both be equal in charge or the weaker will ruin the other. When I used to run heavy equipment, I'd replace both batteries. Charging one then the other often doesn't work. Maybe someone else has run into this. I can't say for sure how it's setup on a MH.

Wasn't giving advice -- just pointing out a source to go get good advice on solar charging from a knowlegeable, honest dealer. Haven't dealt with 24V systems since I left tanks!
