If he is using a laptop in his vehicle to track clients
for billing purposes, and he is using Qicken or Quikbooks, I might suggest the latest version of Steets and Trips with the GPS attachment, works very well, I have been using it for sometime. Might be worth checking it out, I also use the Garmin on the ATV, great for finding your back to camp area.

I also use a laptop with streets and trips. Made a mount for the laptop so it's visible as I travel. Large screen much better then most GPS units. Streets and trips also have verbal directions, and laptop allows me to use other software as needed. (not while driving of course).

I use Delorme Street Atlas on my laptop instead of a small GPS unit. With a bungie cord I strap the laptop to a padded lap desk and it sits nicely on my dashboard. I plug the laptop into the 120v outlet at the base of the dash, by the floor, and run the inverter for power. I too like the larger screen and the ability to run other programs. It is also much easier to program and trip route.

I got a Magellan Maestro 3200, $150 at Best Buy. Small, can be used as a hand held or dash mount. I use it to site see, mark were I am parked, use points of intrest to find my way around, then have it take me back to the car.
