Battery - Not charging

Battery - Not charging was created by monkey44
My battery is not charging when hooked up to my truck - it will charge when on shore-power. Bettery is two years old and water level is good.
I thought I just used it up camping w/o power, but ran for 300 miles and the battery was still dead ...
Checked fuses and connections - all okay.
Only work done recently was a new converter - couple months ago. And have mostly had shore-power since then when camping -- but went into a national park last week and discovered this problem because I had no HU there.
Any clues what to look at??

Being that you had your converter replaced you will probably need to check several things.
You need to use a voltmeter to check for 12v coming out of your truck connector. Pin 1 is ground, Pin 4 is positive 12v.
If you have 12v there I would see if I could find where the wire from pin 4 in your trailer pigtail goes to see if it was hooked back up to the battery/converter when they replaced the converter. If you find where it goes, measure to see if the 12v is getting to there from the truck plug.
You may also need to use an ohmmeter or test to see if you have contunuity between your battery negative terminal and the pin 1 ground on the trailer pigtail. Could be a bad ground connection.
Could just be a bad connector on the truck or trailer plug.

And that was exactly it - a coincidence that it happened when I had the converter installed.
Turns out, the line from the battery to the plug-in connecter in the truck separated at the junction -- just got some corrosion in it, and came apart.
So, installed all new connectors and it works fine. Thanks for the 'push' ...
