I,m considering purchasing one of these subject systems. I find that Camping World sells 2 or 3 brands. Also, I find other brands for sale in RV magazines. Any information on the concept in whole and/or on a particular brand would be appreciated. Do they work, are they a pain when moving every 3 or days, and what about drinking the water after treatment are some questions that come to mind. Thank you all in advance. Have wonderful days. Grant

I have a Travelsoft system that I purchased from Camping World 4 years ago. It really isn't that big of a deal to set it up and take it down when moving. It is just hooked in between your water connection from the park and the inlet to your RV. Mine usally lasts about a week before I have to recharge the unit. Even that is not too hard. Just backflush, refill with salt and flush it out. It is really nice not having to worry about the hard water out here is the west.

We have a FlowPur 8000 water softener and as stated above, their use is no big deal to hook-up and disconnect or recharge. Ours weighs less than 20 lbs, so moving it about is easy. Regarding your question on drinking the processed water; you can, but it does have a slight taste difference. We do not use the water for drinking or making coffee, but we did not use it before we purchased the water softener, so that was never an issue for us. You will notice a huge difference in showering and washing your clothes – if you have an onboard washer/dryer.
