Possible Towing issues was created by jrdr519
Having a problem, when pulling our 5th wheel it feels like when we go over any bump in the road at any speed the truck and the trailer are fighting with each other back and forth. Wondering if anyone has a possible solution for this, it is annoying and I worry my transmission will get the worst of the wear. We are pulling a 08 Dutchman 24L-M5 (26ft--7400lbs) with our 03 Chev 1500 Z71--5.3 with tow package---6.5 box, w/Husky roller hitch. Any suggestions are appreciated!!! Thanks.....

What you'r saying is you are pulling 3.7 Tons
with 3/4 ton vehicle. I guess that answer you question.
I believe thats to much load for your truck, But then I have been wrong before. :S

A 3500 Truck its better.
I never pulled a 5th wheel trailer before, But I did
my share of hauling 40 foot trailers with my semi-truck.
And trust the weight of the trailer will control the truck.
I jacknife once and once was enough for me.
Anyway good luck stay safe.

I will admit I am close to the top of the combined weight for my rig, but, the 7400lbs trailer is not over my max trailer or combined load weight.
Would tires that have a better load rating help with the push/pull between the truck and trailer?
The tires on my vehicle are rated for 2600lbs per @44psi and my hitch weight is 1040lbs.
Thanks

Yes I agree with the other comments either upgrade to larger capacity truck or subject yourself to overheating, transmission problems, and control problems, remember RVing should be safe and a time for family fun, so make that change and keep it safe.
