Frig problem

Frig problem was created by monkey44
My frig suddenly quit working ... it's a Norcold 3-way
Had it fixed at the factory under warrantee at the six months point after purchase - , and they replaced everything, mother-board, temp sensor, igniter, and it worked fine for another six months ...
I turn it to gas (full gas), it won't light, pops to '0', turn it to DC, pops to '0' and won't cool. Don't know about A/C as have no shore power. Have had problems with this frig from day one - and everything has been replaced at least once.
Was told once that if it blows out or fails two times, it needs to be re-set by a tech ... makes no sense that I'd have to find a dealer that will take me without a three-week wait just to re-set the frig ...
Am on the road, and can't simply 'sit-around' for a couple weeks for an appt, then another two weeks while dealer orders some part, probably -- I'm amazed that RV repair people don't understand RV's are on-the-road, not in the backyard ...
ONE: how can I re-set this thing - is there any by-pass - this electronic garbage they build now-a-days should be trashed - had a manual gas frig for ten years and it never failed once. SO, any way to re-set this?
TWO: Is it possible to convert this to manual - getting tired of 'fixing it' ...

A friend of ours had the reset problem. I've lost touch with him, or I'd ask him. He found the answer by searching the web. It has to do with crossing two circuits with a wire (shorting them out) to reset the Norcold.
Sorry you're having problems. We refuse to purchase a rig with Norcold as the only option. They have a reputation for problems.

Yes, I got the code finally, you can actually program it on the on-off punch board inside ... and don't need the 'wire cross' ... but it took me all day to find a dealer that had the codes - and he said "you didn't get it from me" ... because Norcold won't give it out ...
Sometimes, it amazes me that all these electronic instruments have no re-set, at least to get you somewhere - here I am in the middle of a camping trip with a frig full of food, and Norcold won't give the code to re-set it at least until I can get to a repair facility ...
If I had the option, I'd go completely manual on all these 'gadgets' -- had a manual WH and Frig on my last unit and never had trouble in ten years ... then 'upgrade' and have noting but problems -- at the Lance mfgr last year re-built the entire frig under warrantee - right at the factory, as I happened to be close - that, after only six months, then another six months and same thing happens -
You're right Larry, I'd not buy one either, but know that now - if this keeps up, I'll go to a 'RV bone-yard' find a manual frig, and replace this -- can't cost as much as a few loads of groceries that go bad with no frig -- boy, am I in a great mode today - NOPE ... but at least the dealer had the decency to tell me over the phone how to re-set it so I could save this food load (Although i hda already "iced up"... have appt with him Thursday to repair it (I Hope!!) again -- this could get old. thanks for the info ...
