Nevada State Highway 50. Long, long stretches (up to 83 miles) without any services, and best done April/May. Talk about being no where for a while...and beautiful that time of year before it turns brown....almost like New Zealand.
Make sure you stop at Great Basin National Park while you are doing Rt 50. It is "eye candy" for sure and one of the least visited parks in the country . I was stunned to find the Bristlecone pines there. Thought they only existed in California. The camping there is typical for national parks - water and power with a dump site.
