We have stayed at (and loved) Pierre's city campground! In fact, while traveling all around the mid-west (North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas etc. we always try and look for city CGs. Another SD CG we love is Huron Memorial City Campground. The CG is located on the James River, across from the golf course, swimming pool, beach, mini golf, and paddle boats. The campground has 24 sites with full hookups (50A and 30A), $20/night with a week rate offered. We have found city owned CGs all over (mostly off the beaten path), priced from free to a high of $20/night. Most are really great, and most are located close in to town. Also, It's a great way to meet the local folks who, for the most part, are more than willing to assist you in "knowing" the local area!
Good travels,
John
