This error is from Windows, not the Directory software. Researching on Google for the "Windows/Installer" error may help, but I'd also try to do a complete fresh boot of your system. You might also search and delete temp and tmp files from your system then reboot. While I liked Windows XP, it's getting pretty old and isn't supported anymore.
