MY PREDICTION IF MCG's DON'T DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE SPOUSE & CHILDREN OF DEPLOYED SERVICEMEMBERS BYE - BYE TO MCG's
"PUT EVERYTHING ELSE OUTSIDE THE FENCE"
Here's a must read for MCG enthusiasts as a prediction of things to come for MCG's
AF looking to eliminate some base amenities
www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/06/air-f...se-amenities-060412/
"Now on the chopping block across all Air Force bases are some of the amenities you and your family have come to expect: bowling alleys, youth centers and hobby shops, to name a few."
"Some base commanders have set up email addresses and held town hall meetings to find out what their airmen want. They’re telling airmen the time to speak up is now."
“Some of the proposals in the Air Force’s budget request do not appear to make fiscal sense,” Casey wrote to Air Force Secretary Michael Donley on March 2. “For example, I understand that while the Air Force plans to retire 65 C-130Hs, it will continue to maintain at least 65 golf courses at bases around the world.”
"usage rates and profitability will be determining factors," ‘you vote with your wallet,’
Joe Rexroad, a defense contractor and proprietor of Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Rexroad APG, a military master planning firm, said... "Perhaps it is time to focus only on the mission and put everything else outside the fence,”

Of course the guy suggesting this is a defense contractor. Every time the military downsizes the personnel are the ones that get screwed. You don't expect Lockheed/Martin, Northrup/Grumman, Boeing, etc. etc. etc. to take any reduction in their contracts to provide airplanes that the AF doesn't want and ships the Navy doesn't need do you. :pinch:

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

I don't know if it's related to this, but I received a letter today from Nellis AFB similar to the one on this site from Sheppard AFB requesting that I take a survey regarding Desert Eagle Family Camp. Looked like the same questions in both.
Maybe the Air Force is using these surveys to try and determine the popularity of the FAMCAMPs? If so, we should all complete the surveys to show how much this benefit means to us.
Here's a link to the Nellis survey:

The golf courses, campgrounds and hobbyshops should pay their own way as part of the NAF structure (exchange profits also contribute to NAF)
Completed the Nellis AFB survey.. No sewer, keep out the homesteaders.

not sure how the af is set up
but when i was active navy the mwr establishments on base had to sink or swim, because funds were cut out to keep them subsidized
it killed our chiefs club which then made it an all hands club restaurant
this included all the rental places for fishing or boats, campers.
and these places still had to kick payments upstairs to mwr to maintain the mwr experience on base, this include the exchange and liquor store...sit down
my wife ran the liquor store at mayport for several years and they made lots and lots of money...over 1 million three years in a row on alcohol and cigarettes. mwr took 8% off the top every month....like the mafia. :silly:
she supplied all the ships and command parties, all the clubs on base and foreign visiting ships
still not sure what wmr provided after that, except pay folks to run the tickets office, gym and pool ( which was only open 6 months out of the year)
mayports mwr was rolling in money and stilllllllllll was sucky at on base facilities until they built the new rv park
