Do any of you travel with a weapon of any kind in your RV? If you do, what do you do when you go to a campground on base?

Haven't dun it yet, but my plan will involve being extremely discrete, unless their searching every vehicle that comes to the gate. It ain't like I'm gonna start target practice in the CG and I fer durned sure won't be doing any show & tell sessions.
They don't ask, I don't tell.

Well to keep from having 4-5 MP cars with the lights on around your RV at the Inspection station now since the Patriot Act is in place, so it is best to inform the MP at the inspection station of what weapon you have and ensure you are complying with that states laws of concealed or unconcelaed view and loaded or unloaded and etc before going to the gate, and let the MPs know you are going to the MP station for securement during your stay, guidelines my be different from post to post but get these facts out front or you will be surrounded by Blue lights and everyone coming in the gate will remember you from then on, so eliminate the attention and be upfront about what weapon you have.

YES
but as a caution, I always call ahead to where we will be staying to get the current commanders stance on checking of weapons and rv's
Most i find simply want them locked up in a safe while on post and keep them in the RV, not the towed.
If asked you have to tell them and follow base policy.
But I have found, each has its own outlook at rvs and firearms.
SO I ALWAYS call ahead, if need be make arrangements to have to locked in the armory or other safe spot.
none have ever authorized me to carry it on and off base in the truck or car.
I have a CHL and carry everywhere legal. staying on base jsut means you have to modify your game to stay legal.

I don't travel with a weapon and the only base I remember ever being asked if I have one is Kings Bay Sub Base.

I hear what you're saying. I'm a CHP holder myself.
You guys are right so, I think I'll back pedal on this one and go with the tell em up front crew and ask what the procedure is for carriers.
Actually at my homebase (Bangor ANGB) I did ask proactively and got with the Chief of Security. Just declare it and leave it in the car there.
