Out of all of the military campgrounds we have been at I have never seen where pets were not allowed at all. such as Bethany Camp in Delaware. I wonder if they had a serious issue previously. even in commercial campgrounds this is rare, maybe restrictions on size and type. I even called to reconfirm and they said it has been that way for along time.
Just my 2 cents worth

Rare indeed. Did Bethany Camp give a reason?

We travel with no pets, but, I see almost all full-timers or anyone with a MH or a 5-er have at least one dog. Seems like that anyway - it's not like someone goes on the road and gives away the pup - most pets are a close as family, at least all ours were when we had them.
Sure cuts out a lot of campers / RV'ers to have a rule like that - I've heard some breeds are restricted.
One thing tho, no matter the breed, it's how you raise them that matters. We had several 140 - 150 lb Bullmastifs over the years, and they were always 'protective' but very gentle dogs, despite the 'mean looks'.

Ahhhh.....the old "We've always done it that way" explanation. Good for blowing off questions nobody has an answer to. Works every time!
The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

Like Monkey we travel with no pets. Our four indoor cats are all in heavan and we still miss them every day. Had two medium dogs before we started RV'ing and they are in heavan also. I find it very unusual that a campground Military or private would not allow pets (Bethany Camp probably had a dog issue) so now all pets are restricted. I can honestly say no matter what campground we are in someone will always let a dog run loose or not clean up after the pet. I wonder if we keep following this same person around from campground to campground, never see it happen but it never fails we find the doggies business. The worst thing that ever happened to us was in a military campground a long time ago when the owner took the dog out on a leash and he walked the dog to our RV; not the other way to the doggie walk area and he let the dog pee on our tires and hub caps. As I am writing this I am watching someone two sites over from me once again let the dog run willy nilly. Another experience I had in Texas was I was taking the trash to the dumpster and some young man was walking his dog and the dog did the poop and the young man walked away, I said as tactfully as I could "would you please clean that up" and I got the words" -uc- you lady " back. Well enough of my stories, anyone have another doozie to share?
