Why is This Allowed? was created by Gansett
I just read in one of the camp ground reviews about how one couple left their RV on a lot for two weeks in early January while they went on a cruise. A post immediately before them said they tried to check-in on 1 January but were turned away because there no more lots. I can't say the time periods over-lapped, but that's not really the point. Why should someone tie-up a lot for two weeks that someone else might use?

I would guess its allowed because the folks paid for the lot. Just because they were not there is no reason to not allow them to do their day trips or whatever. really not much different than those that homestead on the bases IMO!

How many times have you gone to a place and not been able to stay? Probably very infrequent and if a base is not a popular place they will need to have paid guests. When I was in La, we came home from a tdy for 2 weeks. the LL allowed us to park under a tree off the sites and when we returned we went through the drill of re hookup and all. Maybe the cg did not have a storage area or there would not be any open sites when the guy came back so he 'rented' his parking for his needs?

Many locations do limit the time the unit can be left unattended. Here in Sigsbee, it's 24 hours. However, they do offer short term storage near the campsites in an empty lot.

I respect your reply Hank; but, I can see a difference in being away for a day or two versus being absent for two weeks and knowing you were going to that in advance. Also, although you couldn't know this, this particular camp ground turned several folks down for lack of space. If there is a storage lot then I think that is the solution

Personally, if we were going on a cruise or a trip out of the country, I'd be looking for a place to leave my motorhome that I felt was safe and had power to keep my refer cold so I didn't have to throw everything away. A military campground would meet those needs and I wouldn't have a problem with someone else doing it. Or if they were hospitalized, or visiting their kids in the area or......
