Car "Stickers" yet again

Oweninthekeys and I had a very helpful exchange in navigating Ft Bragg. In the course of that he mentioned that the Marines had now adopted the no-sticker requirement. When I went to Lejeune, that was the case...maybe. I had one so no big deal but I noticed other RV's had paper temp passes. At Lejeune, I asked several sentries and they all said no sticker required, just and ID. Sweet...but today at Cherry Point MCAS (part of the same org as Lejeune), I asked the sentry since I have 1 car with no sticker, and he said that you still need at sticker.

So, either the Marines have not signed on or all their Marines haven't gotten the word. This is important because at a place like Cherry Point, there is no turn around with a TOAD and the pas and ID office lot os very small. I'll just make sure I have stickers until this is settled.

We stayed at Onslow Beach Apr 6 till today. Stopped and got new sticker for the truck at pass office so they are still issuing them. Pass office has large parking lot but not easy turnaround for truck and trailer - we were lucky it wasn't busy in parking lot.

Owen, I'll try and make it a point to find out from the PMO what the policy is and do an AAR. All of the sentries at Lejeune that I asked (as a test) seemed to have the word. Cherry Point, not so.

Cherry Point, as of several months ago, would not issue a sticker if your residence was more than 50 miles away. A friend who lives just up the road got in a urinary contest with them over that and was finally issued one.

BTW, drove through the new RV park 2 days ago. Very nice. First Class...Air Force standard <G>. But I miss being able to walk to the Commissary/PX.

Wife and I have been at Lejeune since August 3rd. No more vehicle IDs or passes issued. All I had to do to get the RV in is show my ID card. The RV has no vehicle stickers. The same applied for our rental car. We drove to Cherry Point MCAS today with the rental car and all we needed to get in was my military ID. We will be camping at Cherry Point starting tomorrow for five days.

That's good news Rev. Cherry Point is our "home" base. Not long ago I asked and they still required stickers. Strange since they are under the same structure as Lejeune. Hope they have it down now...if you have to go back and get a sticker it is not an easy turn around in an RV. Enjoy the new park.
