Hey Folks,
I've been poking around the site just wishing it was closer to my depart date so that I can enjoy that tropical weather already. I have seen some posts that others have made about ID requirements to gain access to some of these installations. Can anyone tell me what is required to get in to NASKW ? I would hate to travel 2000 miles only to be denied access. Thanks, Tim

From the FAQ section on the website:

Your VA card isn't valid as proof to utilize military campgrounds. You'll need to obtain a DD Form 2765, Department of Defense/Uniformed Services identification and privilege card reflecting eligibility to MWR. An honorably discharged member rated 100% service-connected disabled by the DVA is entitled to this ID Card. You can obtain this ID card at "most" military bases at the ID card section.

You MUST bring:
•A letter from the Office of Veteran Affairs (VA) stating that you are 100% disabled.
•Your DD214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty)
•Picture ID and supporting documentation for any and all family members to be added.

I suggest you contact the military installation you will get your ID card from first and verify this is all the information you will need. I've heard of some ID card sections also requiring more information from the VA related to when your last and next medical review is.

This ID card will also get you access to the commissary and exchange. Be sure they have "MWR" entitled on the reverse of the card. Of course, no medical benefits are available from this ID card, as medical is obtained from the VA or other sources.

Thanks Larry, I have been permanent 100% service connected since April 2008 but the only ID I have is my VA card and a letter from the VA. I will be contacting the nearest base to see if I can get this card and what I will need to show them to get it. Thanks again, Tim

Thanks to both Larry and Bob for helping me with my query. I got my paperwork in order and went to a base near my home and now have my DD-2765 ID card. It was smooth and painless thanks again, Tim
