Greetings from Thailand
I'd like some information on attitudes regarding tent campers at military campgrounds.
I'm planning a 40-day trip around the US with my wife and young daughter and would like to camp in a tent for about 20 nights. Some campgrounds have dedicated tent spots and others do not. Some are called campgrounds but the photos show only RVs and no tents. I don't expect to stay at any campground more than one night. Do famcamps ever turn away tent campers? Would a tent camper be allowed to spend a night in an overflow RV spot? Thanks for any advice, I'm just trying to get a feel for what I should expect.
Also, how important is it to make a reservation to pitch a tent for eight hours? It seems a bit much.
Cheers, Tent Stakes

Hi, tents are welcome at most military campground, but not all. Some are strictly RV's only. Don't worry about the location being called a "campground", "RV Park", or "FamCamp". Terms are used very loosely.
Some places will allow tents in RV sites (you still pay full price), some don't allow tents in RV sites. Unfortunately, there's really no way of knowing their "rules" on tents unless you call them ahead of time.
