Are we the only ones who pick up on this? The retiree who has not taken the rank off yet,
If it isn't the ones who won the (fill in the blank with which War you like) ______ War all by their selves, it is the retiree who still wears his rank.
Hey RETIREE, you are retired now. Don't you know how idiotic you sound by saying "I am Chief so and so" or "I am colonel so and so?" When we all know you are Mr r-e-t-i-r-e-e like the rest of us?
I am sure many of you have ran across these types. And their wives who think, or better yet -- thought, they were the same rank as hubby was.
Recently one retiree at a FamCamp I over heard state "I am Chief so and so" about every other sentence out of his mouth.
What a idiot.
Then we have to hear from the wives. "I am colonel XX's wife" "or my hubby is a Chief"
Wrong hon. You are the wife of a retiree. Period.
Retirees out there do us all a favor and stop blowing smoke and acting like we care.
The retiree who does not blow smoke. Does not tell War stories. Does not ever bring up his rank...is one to respect. They did it.
I do hope a few of you type read this and see how dumb you sound and that others do not care about your FORMER rank or HER rank.
Give it a break and enjoy your retirement.

Heater1,
Hey you have to have a sense of humor at the FamCamps and on here.
I have seen all of them. The never retired retiree. The retiree who still wears his rank. The hubby who clings to his wife's rank.
But take it in stride.
When they start telling me how the won the War, I ignore them. They get the message real fast when they know their BS is not flying (no pun intended) with me.

UH1... You seem pretty unhappy dealing with military retired folks, recreation facilities, military space available travel and I guess much more. Why do you subject yourself to all these things that irritate you. I don't think the retired Marine or Chief Petty Officer that is proud of his service and likes to be around like minded people would miss you if you stayed in commercial campgrounds or traveled some other mode than military aircraft. I don't know you or dislike you but you sound like a very unhappy person. And if you think I'm an "A" hole, you might not be wrong and I'm sure you'd find some others that agree.

Hey Floridakamper, let me clear some things up with you. I have met many fine people at FamCamps. I enjoy being around military retirees. FYI I am very happy in life. Hit the big 80 and still kicking. Now that you understand that, lets move on.
I know I am not alone in not liking these types. And you run into lots of them at FamCamps!
I bet there are many like me who do not like retirees who still think they are on active duty and constantly run their mouths implying they are still on AD.
We all should be proud of our service. That is not what I am talking about. I am proud of mine.
I am talking about the ones who still think they are on active duty and cannot hang it up. You have seen and heard them.
Mouthing all the time saying they are "Chief" or "Colonel" gets old from these guys. They are no longer wearing the rank. They cannot put it up. I have seen and heard retirees get real pushy saying there are this and that. Sorry Floridakamper, they are retired.
I am talking about the ones who spit out war stories that you know is BS. You have heard them. The real warriors say nothing.
