Oh my, telling it like it is is not PC.
And if UH tells it like it is, he is one unhappy dude.
My, my, UH hit 80 and is unhappy. At that age you are happy to just wake up.
Do I dare say I also have seen the ones UH described? Or will I be "unhappy" too?
Now, lets all hug and be happy.

Very interesting viewpoint UH1-Vietnam and thankfully this type of military retiree is in the minority. Sure we hear them bragging but in the nicest way possible we excuse ourselves after it starts getting boring and too deep. I am the wife of the retiree not the old lady and am proud of him and all who served honorably. I guess by the time we reach 80 we may feel like you do; but I will remind myself to be polite and excuse myself same as I do today.

LamSam, excellent post. Perhaps the best one on this entire board.
Great way to handle things.

UH-1, as one of our former Presidents used to say: "I feel your pain". I don't let stuff like this bother me as long as they don't try to pull rank on me. If I get tired of their war stories I just try to stay clear of them. Hang in there.

UH1-Vietnam,
I am a 73 year old retired USAF MSgt. When I wear a hat (not at all times or in all places) I wear a baseball cap with that information PROUDLY displayed on it. I have NEVER introduced myself to anybody as MSgt Hicks since the day I took my uniform off for the very last time. I have never told anybody what my rank was unless directly asked about it. When people thank me for my service (from seeing my cap), I usually respond by saying "Thank you; I'd proudly do it all again." I was never in a war other than the 'Cold War', so I have no war stories to share with anyone. I fixed radars for 20 years and can answer any radar questions you might have if asked.
So far, you've made 11 posts on this site, and the majority of them have been complaints about some perceived mistreatment or complaint about somebody else's poor behavior. Your attitude on this website is not winning many fans, me included. In fact, if I could block your posts on this website, I'd be inclined to do so given your propensity to be overly negative about your treatment as a retiree.
Only you can control how you are perceived by others on this site; and so far the perception isn't in your favor - IMHO.
