rv rentals

As a new member I'm hoping I'm not rehashing old topics but I am looking for information on the availability of rental trailers at military bases.I can rent a 24 ft right here at westover Arb but my plan is to spend about a month in the southeast area this winter and if I can avoid deadheading a trailer all that distance I would be way ahead , besides the issue of winterizing which is a necessity in these parts. Anyone have any info on availability from the Charleston SC area on down into Florida?I have plenty of info on militasry campgrounds but none on rentals. Mwr has no info.

this is another topic for the wife(she's the researcher). There are several places that rent RV's from Jax to Orlando, but, also being new to the military CG's, we aren't sure if any bases have on-site rentals. At least if you can get to point A, rent a RV, traveling to point B won't be as taxing and your winterizing will be a non-issue. You may also want to look into STORING your own rig on base. Some bases DO have long term storage(Sigbee at Key West)and you may even get lucky enough to find one that has at least a 110 plug to keep the batteries from draining on you. This would only work if you planned on being in the same spot for the whole 'trip'. Otherwise, it sounds more like you are looking for a room in a navy lodge or some type of cabin. We'll get back to you.

We've seen (and used) plenty of trailer rentals available at many military bases. You do bring up a good point - there's no central information available on MWR rentals. Contact the base(s) you're interested in directly and inquire. MWR is the point of contact. If they don't know, then they don't have any to rent.

Hey Larry, the good olde' Air Force has changed MWR to Services and the Marines have made a similar change to Community Services. In most cases Outdoor Recreation has remained Outdoor Recreation but they now point to different leaders.

the wife got virtually no info on what you are looking for so she respectfully deferred to Larry's answer. Since all things change, at times rapidly, your best bet is to always call your destination before you get there.
