We've done a whole bunch of FamCamp rv'ing and so far the only one to do a really thorough search and inspection of our MH was Vandenburg AFB.

I personally do not have a problem with it at all... its their job.

Well, you're right -- it is their job. And I for one welcome the search because to skip it would allow that potential for unwanted items or individuals access to the base.

One thing for sure, I've been camping one place or another practically all my life and never feel safer than when camped at a MTF CG ... not a worry ever about leaving stuff out, or unlocked. Not a worry about basic personal security either ... and I sleep extremely well while my brothers and sisters stand that watch ... believe it !!

Stayed a few days at Niagra Air Force base and they did a pretty thorough search. But
it was quick and painless. Even gave the guards coffee as they were doing it.

We've been fulltimers since Nov 2007 and the only time we've been searched was at MacDill in FL but when we went back a second time the next year we were NOT searched. It's painless--they just used mirrors to look at the underside and did a quick look inside the trailer. Didn't bother us as we have nothing to hide.

In our 9 yrs on the road, and enumerable FamCamps, only Ft Campbell x-rayed us, Fairchild AFB came aboard and walked through, and Vandenberg AFB scanned the underneath.

Its kinda like going into/out of Canada. One time they tear you apart, the next they wave you through.
