We have taken ourselves out of the fulltimer category as of the first of May this year. We had been spending a lot of time in the upstate foothills area of SC the last two years and have found a very nice 55+ mobile home community here in Taylors, SC and finally got it all set up. We get free yard service including trimming and free garbage service. So we are very secure here and can still seasonally travel. Our next trip will be to The Grand Casino RV Park in Robinson, MS for our 50th anniversary on October 4th. Then back to Taylors for Christmas & New Year then down to Lake Okeechobee in Southern FL for three months of fishing before the place drys up. Then up to Marianna, Fl for a month of Crappie fishing in the great 7 mile long Merritt’s Pond that's going to produce a world record White Crappie soon. Then back to Taylor's. So you can see we are not giving up our traveling habits.
We are also going to join the southeast region of SMART and attend their quarterly get-togethers.

Fast Eagle
Fast Eagle,
My husband and I love to fish, also. We bought a pontoon boat, and have it here in our seasonal site in DE. I caught a nice flounder Sat., and there is noting like eating it the day you catch it. We had stuffed founder, Sat. The crabs we have been catching have been very nice. We bring in from 40 to 50 every other day. DE allows two crab pots per person. The only problem we have had is that the commercial crabbers have been emptying the pots. They emptied 18 that we have counted last Tues. The DNR here has been making arrests, so we hope this will end soon.
I think many of us retires, have had to make a few adjustments do to the economy, but making lemonade out of lemons, is not to bad. If we weren't concerned about the gas we would of never found this spot in DE. I know this winter will be a new adjustment, but we will just take it as it comes. We will be staying at FT Meade to visit family, and help our daughter out. We would also like to head south, but we will have to see how things our going. When we don't stay at military, we try to use Coast to Coast, to help keep expenses down. We still own our home in MD, that we had rented out. We will probably be moving back there soon, if the gas prices don't stop rising. I am just grateful we have had the time we had, to enjoy the wonderful adventure, of fulltiming. Tomorrow is a new day, so we will bide our time, and see how things are going with the economy, and go from there.

In the past we have tried to spend the winter south, Florida/Arizona, and the summer in Minnesota, where the wife is originally from. Spring and fall are okay to be home in Oklahoma but winters and summers it is not the place to be. Also, in past years we seldom stayed in any one place more than a few days. We are now finding we're staying longer in one place. The three different places in Wisconsin were less than 100 miles apart. We also try to stay in Passport America parks since they are half price for members. We hit military campgrounds when we can but there are not any or many up north and none in Minnesota. We're not letting the price of diesel keep us home, just stay longer in each place to stretch the budget. Actually, we find we spend less money when we are out in the RV than we do sitting at home totally bored. We'll return to Oklahoma sometime in August, spend a few weeks maintaining the house and then head west for another RV rally in California. (Camping fees are included in the cost of the RV rallies. This gives us a chance to have fun, see old friends, make new ones and save a little money.) We are now in our third motorhome and we didn't buy these things to let them sit in a storage lot collecting dust.
Ride on.....

Im in an RV park in Washington. Spending my days as a volunteer working at North Cascade National Park. They pay for my rv site with full hookups as well as give me a stippance every day for working.
Like utmtman, we're doing a similar volunteer job with same type RV site. Presently with the National Forest Service in NM. Making just enough to pay for the fuel to get here, but great surroundings...if you like cougars, snakes, and jack rabbits.
