Use of the Interactive Customer Evaluation System (ICE)

For those military campgrounds that utilize ICE (it's optional), we have a direct link to their ICE evaluation page. You can find this link at the bottom of the campground's information page on this website. Look for the ICE logo:

Because of this posting session -- I just used ICE for the first time.

Tried to get a site at Fourth Cliff -- south of Boston -- but she said I couldn't because she can't take a reservation on the weekend. I didn't want a reservation, I wanted the site that was available right then. She said, we have no way to take a reservation, and you can't have a site without one. I said, I don't need one, just check me in. She said the policy did not allow check-ins on the weekend ... you can only stay if you have a reservation --

Okay, so give me a reservation, THEN check me in. She says, we can't give reservations on the weekends.

Now, first, that seems ridiculous -- why not check me in?? The office is open seven days a week, and they have a store and a cafe open daily too.

And second, when a site is vacant, the MCG loses money. So, I "ICED" them and will follow up if I get an answer.

Posted the ICE response noted above in this posting August 31 ... last week the manager called me and asked about the incident ... said the staff had made an error and should have given me the info and also should have allowed me to check in. HE said he would leave indtructions so it would nothappen again, and should not have happened that tijme either. She just made a mistake, he said.

So took almost a month, but I did get a response. In addition, I sent ICE comment about the WIFI system at Hanscomb AFB too ... but have no response as yet. That incident was the same trip same weekend. Nothing, but have not been back there either to see if WIFI has been corrected.

The problem there was intermittent WIFI service because server lost it, and staff could not or would not reboot to set the WIFI if it dropped. So, server did not come up until next day when office opened and booted everything fo the daily ops. Should be standard to just re-boot when server goes down, but office staff were indifferent to the WIFI down issue. Will let you know if ICE responds -- but have got 50/50 so far ... one out of two ... ::)
