Getting through the gates

I am new to this and wondered how we get through the winding barriers at the gates of Military Bases? It would seem that my 27ft fifth wheeler would be scrapping some concrete barriers positioned at the entry. Of course, being new to this, it just might look impossible to do. Comments please.

You may want to ask this question ahead of time - sometimes they have you use the commercial truck gate, when they have one.

Every base I have been to has a "Truck" or Comercial gate which are OK for RV's. If you are going to a MCG give them a call and ask them which gate to enter. They have always been helpful.

And, if you can't get MCG on the phone, base security will have the answers you need.

I drive a 35' Class A towing a Ion, total 54' and have no problems. I probably stayed at some 20 different bases and only a few have you go thru the truck gate. Others either have the barriers far enough apart or they can easily move them, most are on wheels. Only one base I was biteing my nails when leaving, they closed off the outbound side and had you exit thru the inbound side with barriers. :o

There is plenty of room to get through. I drive a 41' MH and tow a silverado pickup. I am long and I get through there fine. I am at FT. Huchuca Az. right now and the barriers are close but they are not too close. Like said before if you can't quite get through their gates, the barriers are movable and they can move them easy. They may act like they don't want to move them but they can. They have moved them for me at a base by just taking one of the poles out of the ground. Have great travels.
