Thanks for the info. I just cannot picture the 40' plus rigs making it through the gates. I'm new at this RV thing and have to build up some driving skills. Just completed a round trip from Alaska. Left late August for Montana, and returned back to Alaska the first week of October. Interesting weather change, since Alaska started Winter a month early. Can you say snow and ice two days out. (Wasilla which is 50 miles North of Anchorage.) My wife and I had a great time for first time RV'ers. All ready dreaming of next years get away.

The only base that was tight for us in our 31' MH was Toole Army Depot. A moot point, because the campground there is now closed. Since then, we've moved into a 40' and have never had an issue. There has always been an option for large rigs. Per the advice above, call ahead if the info in this site doesn't make it clear.

I've noticed that some of the serpentine courses are getting tighter. One change made at Beale AFB was at the Grass Valley gate...it has the "S" curve on both entry and exit, but they put a 2' tall curb on the outside of the turn. The inside of the turn has normal curb height. I was able to get through but the rear wheel caught the curb. My point is, these high curbs are not movable.
FWIW, recommend using the Wheatland gate at Beale. That is the commercial truck entrance.

Very strange: Drove up to main gate at MacDill today - have been through it many times after 4PM with RV, and fit fine, lots of room there ...
But, security said ..."Gotta go to commercial gate" Tells me I need to be 'processed' in because of RV, so I did of oourse...
Commercial gate checks my ID card, says, "Okay, take that bypass" and routes me around a couple circular winding drives, past the inspection gate (with NO inspection) and through another inspection gate, no inspection, and back onto the main gate access road about 500 feet from the main gate where I was about ten minutes and couple miles ago ...
No big deal, but can't underestand why we get routed through an inspection gate, and then no inpection. Why not simply through the main gate - it's new and plenty big enough ... just a very odd circumstance today.

Last fall, we were doing a craft fair circuit, and stayed at a *number* of military campgrounds.... Warner Robbins AFB was the ONLY one that had us exit the motorhome, take the dog out, and open up our cargo trailer for inspection prior to entry. Of course, this was also when we arrived later than expected... around 730 pm. Their concrete barriers were all movable as well, but they were spaced well, we had no trouble navigating them.
We *did* have trouble locating the campground, though - signs were non-existent at that time, hope they've improved.
