I've read the information about this program and plan on taking advantage of it. However, the date to purchase the tickts for Orlando's Universal Studio is June 28, 2009 and can be used up to December 31, 2009. We are going to be in the area in September.. There are no Military Base Rec offices near me except for Wright-Patterson AFB at Dayton, Ohio. Does anyone know if they are participating in this program. Thanks, Frank

The Wright Patterson ITT Office does have the Universal Military Salute tickets available. You can pick up the free tickets and purchase the companion tickets for your family at a big discount. All military base MWR/ITT Offices have these tickets. You can see a list of them on the Universal website - just click on "Military Sales" at the bottom of the home page.:)

Thanks for the info. Wright Patterson is a 4 hour drive from my house so I'll make a trip there one day. I would stop on my way south but I'm not leaving here until sometime in August and it would be too late to get the Universal tickets. Again, Thank you and take care.

I used the free pass to Disney a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine is going in June and was told that you could pick up the pass directly from the Park. At of curiosity, I went to Guest Relations on the way out one day and asked about this. A really nice lady (who turned out to be married to a Navy retiree...LOL) told me that Yes, it was true that you could pick up the pass and the tickets for your guests directly from Guest Relations at the park. The REST of the story, which you won't find anywhere else, is that while you can get the ticket directly from the park, the State of Florida tax law requires them to collect sales tax....same with the guest passes. If you get them from ITT, no sales tax is charged. She said the tax comes to around $10 per ticket...and for some reason, the guest tickets (you can get up to 5 at a discounted rate) costs a little more than through ITT, plus the sales tax is added for the full value of the ticket. Sounds weird, but hey....we're talking about guvmint taxes here!

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!
