How about this idea, just don't bring weapons onto bases. You don't need guns anyway-the police will protect you!

Yes, I have been broke down on an open highway and lived. Yes, I have read the newspapers and rarely read anything about those that have. I have listened to all of the NRA scare tactics and two things scare me more than any of that.
One, an unqualified person wielding a weapon in a campground where that weapon can be taken from them and used on me.
Two, my wife, an Old Corps Woman Marine, brandishing a weapon.
I never met anyone who NEEDS a firearm in their RV--except to inflate their machismo.
And finally, when you begin to lie to the authorities you buy into the gheto ethic of "Stop Snitchin'". Civilization works when we all do our duties as citizens--and those include being honest and fair.

Oh no! Here we go. The pros vs cons on handguns. This thread should eat up some web space.

At least this one should be a little less confrontational -- those of us here have usually received basic firearms training ... at least enough to know we don't need an M-16 to rid our RV's of a few mice...
Some of those characters on other RV forums seem to think it requires ten hand-guns, at least one a .357 magnum, and a couple shotguns to keep away the "bad guys" ...

I'm not a gun wielding nutcase but I do have a concealed handgun liscense (Texas). When I travel I carry my 9mm only. I'd rather take the time to turn my pistol in than to travel without it. There ARE some gun wielding nutcases out there. Remember Luby's Cafeteria in Kileen? Va Tech? and numerous other incidents...One individual could have prevented the loss of a lot of lives with a concealed handgun. Generally I feel secure in a military park, but, in the private parks, who knows "what evil lurks in the minds of men".....lol
