Personally, if visiting a military campground is convenient and we haven't stayed there before, we will stop and give it a chance. Sometimes they turn out to be "best-kept secrets" in nature, and sometimes they turn out to be "never-stopping-here again" hellholes. Most fall somewhere in between. But at least now we know.
If there is more than one review, we just sort of average them out and that seems to work too.
Yep. Agree that $$ drives at least some of the operations. We've camp-hosted at one of those types. Frustrating.

Have been to sevral MCG and a good indicator for a campground I will stay at is stay limits. Campgrounds with out them tell me HOMSTEADERS. These are people who think the campground is thier personal cheap trailer park.
If your looking for the same standards across the board for all MCG you won't.

Everyone looks for different things when they choose a campground to stay at no matter if military or private or on public lands. Reviews are helpful and the comments help us all decide if the campground offers what is important to us. Also the type of RV makes a difference on how we all rate the campground. If you have a smaller unit then small sites are okay with you, if you have a large class A then the campground with the small sites will not rate high with you. What is important to you as an individual may not be important to someone else, it is all subjective so go out there and try some of them and see what each has to offer. We have found so many we love and will go back to the same campgrounds as they offer what we are looking for.

Never been to a bad Military CG.. some are great, some just OK.. FT Bliss is a city trailer park, clean & the best bath house & community room ever.. then Quantico is Million $$$ lake front sites but they have pit toilets.. these two examples are miles apart but both fun and a great time.. also both are right on major Interstate highways..
