I agree. It's always best to call ahead.
My husband and I are planning a trip to Camp Attebury in Sept.
We hope to be able to pack a weapon.
We'd probably feel safe on the base, but we will have to park other places, too. Maybe not so safe.
Thank you for your advice.

Listen to 'Blackhawk' -- attempting to conceal a weapon from installation security folks will only result in more trouble than you may realize. You will have your weapon confiscated and face serious legal problems -- our military security folks are no longer willing to overlook incidents involving weapons after the Ft. Hood tragedy. For some serious firepower/protection, check the
Kel-Tech bullpup
. Holds 14 rounds in two tube magazines, with ability to select the feed magazine with the flip of a lever. Load buck in one tube and slugs in the other.

Call the base ahead of arriving to understand their guidelines and inform the MP of your weapon right away or you are asking for trouble if they find it during the inspection.
