Why (re paperwork)?

Why (re paperwork)? was created by belgique
In the last few months, we have checked into a mix of military and civilian campgrounds.
Without exception, the military parks required filling out a maze of paperwork (including zeroxing documents) and wanted dog health certificates. Each also gave us a handout of a half dozen pages of rules.
Without exception, the civilian parks only wanted a credit card and, at the most, the rules, were a couple of items on the campground map re checkout and quiet hours. Some wanted license tag numbers.
I know that there are bad apples in all communities but one would think (backed by our experience) that military vets that use military CGs are usually good citizens and don’t need 6+ pages of rules to guide their behavior.
If I can check into a KOA or a Hyatt hotel by just showing a credit card (and not getting a rule book), shouldn’t the same be for a military CG?
Not a rant and I’ll smile and comply because it won’t change. Just musing.

Have not experienced this yet and hope we do not as we use military more than private campgrounds. Maybe someone has to justify their job and have created a paperwork nightmare to keep busy. Every time we go to Kings Bay Submarine Base (I love it don't get me wrong) they hand out a folder with enough flyers to sink a Battleship and I always tell them I do not need it and they say okay we will recycle it, not use for someone else but recycle it. The pet vaccination paperwork is for everyones protection on base I suppose and when we travelled with 4 cats no private campground in any state ever asked us for paperwork for the cats so I guess when we are in a private campground all the dogs and cats we see may or may not be vaccinated.

Have traveled with our dog for years, and except for Canadian border crossings, have never been asked for our dog's vaccination paperwork. Comments about other paperwork required by military CGs seem to vary by FamCamps - some ask for more, some less! Just my experience.
