domuments needed?

domuments needed? was created by airlifter
As I posted earlier, I am just beginning to use the Military campgrounds. I am planning a trip to Fla. in a week or so. I plan to go through Jacksonville and down to Naples and then on to Key West. I hope to get an overnight at Jacksonville and a couple of days at Sigsbee in Key West. I know that I will probably have to stay in over flow if that is not filled also.
My question is, what paper work will I need to get on base and in the campground? I have my ID and proof of insurance for the vehicle and camper. Is there anything else that I need to get checked in?
What is the policy about firearms? I have my concealed carry permit. Will I need the registration paperwork on the firearm? How big of a hassle is it to check my weapon when I get there and retrieve it when I leave?
Any other tips before my first trip will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Pete

Military ID is all you will need. Weapons are technically a no no on base. Don't know about JAX this time of year but you shouldn't have any problem at Sigsbee..If JAX is full don't forget about Mayport or Patrick.

Or, don't miss Kings Bay Georgia - it's just north of JAX, and no traffic - - one of he nicest, best run MCG's in the country

Rabies certif for animals, if any.
On the listing for each CG, Larry includes comments re weapons if there are any. That said, every post/base that I have been on says you must turn in weapons. I have never been asked about weapons. I have a carry permit too but have decided to just not carry one with us when we know we'll be using mil CGs. I've never tried to check one so I cannot comment.
Have a great trip!

I've had to check-in my firearm a few times at military campgrounds. Mostly an annoyance. At White Sands (NM), they checked the serial number in a database.

Pete I didn't see anything in the comments about having to have a current base sticker on your vehicles. Air Force bases do not require a sticker but Navey bases still do. At least last year they did. I know things change in the blink of an eye. Hope that helps.
