Just wanted to say hello, I'm Craig my wife Nancy and I have just started Rving. I am Active duty Army resently returned from Afganistan, upon returning this time the wife decided she wanted an Rv were retiring in 2013 and she thought it would be nice to do some traveling after the army,I guess 6 duty stations and 3 deployments weren't enough for her hahaha. We are stationed in Ga right now and stuck close to home on our first trips out its been great. Looking for to many more trips and going alot farther the site has offered us alot of options great to know we can stay close to the military community. Thanks again

Welcome Craig and Nancy!
I think the military moving also planted the "travel bug" in us. After retirement, I took a corporate job for 6 years. They went bankrupt, we sold everything, and have been traveling full-time in our motor home for the past 7 years. Life has never been so good!
Even weekend outings and vacations to "get away" will make life more enjoyable. Hope you have a smooth retirement transition!

Hello Craig and Nancy,
My name is Jack, I plan to retire as a Master Chief from the Navy at 21 years in 2015. I have 5 duty stations and 10 deployments under my sails. Right now my wife and I have been looking for Class "A" Motor Homes (diesel), for a purchase between 2012-2013. My plans are to travel, taking online college courses, while on the road using my GI Bill.
So we will be NEWBIES also. I thought it would be a GREAT idea to travel with other RV military couples, to have some company along the road. I wonder if there are any couples out there doing the same, caravan'ing across the country.
I can't wait for the day of freedom.

I believe the travel bug is inherent in most military folks that make it to retirement. Not sure how anyone could make the 20 if you didn't enjoy the move. Me personally, I have never, in my life, lived anywhere more than 7 years, guess my family had it too!

You mentioned travel and online college ...
As I recall, you can only get reimbursement for online courses for the actual fees, not the "GI Bill" monthly allotments unless you take at least half of your courses each semester in a classroom.
Although it would be nice to travel and 'earn' that nice sum, you should check with VA advisor before you make those plans.
My college and GI Bill was quite awhile ago, and I took online independent study too, but was required to have at least as many in clsss credits as online credits. It might be different now with new GI Bill rules - but would advise checking anyway, just to make sure.
