Upon arriving at Vandenberg afb in ca. we were directed to the inspection area. I am retired army and our mh is registered on base in wa with a decal on the windshield. I was told to open all the basement compartments and go wait inside a small room. we had our dogs with us and asked if we could let them go potty. while outside the holding cell I turned around to see what was going on and was told to face away or go back in the room.
I totally understand security checks, however i think this was way out of line. they also searched the inside of the rv. we stayed at another base the night before and just checked id's and flagged us on.
I am not now or ever have be a threat.
So what gives, if driving a car it would not have happened.
my wife and I both have id's that can be scanned.

Curious. AFBs don't usually go through vehicles. There must have been an alert for your type of vehicle which would have set off a search.

Sometimes it's random you happened to be # 41 of that day?

I forgot to mention that we could not go through the main gate. We were sent to a side gate a ways away. I thought maybe because it was closer to the campground(not). When we left we exited through the main gate, it was closer.
I will give it another try, we are close to Lewis/McCord.
I will let then know I am #42!!!

You don't know what the situation is for that day/time. Maybe there was an actual alert or a test or as has been pointed out - your number came up. When we went through the "Tanker Gate" at MacDill we were basically waived right on while others had thier unit checked. It is called a 'random' stop and search for a reason.

I understand random checks, however I do feel we could have been treated with a bit more respect.
Thinking about this, the way we were treated was the issue. I still live by the "golden rule", might sound silly, but that is how I was raised.
