Air Force RV campground program

this might have already been discussed but I was unable to find it.
Does anyone know if the AF still has a program where you signed up for and I think gave them $25 and you got a map and a coupon book that gave you free nights of camping at AF Famcamps?
Seems like you had to have the campground office stamp your book and when you got it full you sent it in and they would send you a new one.

Thanks, Bob

Bob,

Indeed, you speak of the Air Force Frequent Camper Program. I spent half a year looking for it and finally found it at Patrick AFB, FL. It costs $25 and you get maps and the useless Military Campgrounds book as well as lapel pins and stickers along with a "passport". It also comes with five free night coupons. I used one of them right away.

You need to stay at least two days and as long as you have a coupon the first night is free. Every time you stay at an AF FamCamp (I think there are 66 of them) you get them to stamp one block in your passport. When you get 10 stamps from DIFFERENT campgrounds you send it in for a new book and five free night coupons.

I might have screwed up some numbers but you get the idea. They want you to visit every one of the AF campgrounds and you save big bucks in the process. All you gotta do is find a Services Squadron who has them for sale.

Glenn, thanks for the info.

It was/is a pretty good deal. I wonder why it isn't advertised more?
If the AF Famcamps have info on signing your passport, you would think they would also be selling the program.

Replied by a Guest on topic Re: Air Force RV campground program
I purchased my book almost three years ago at Nellis AFB in Vegas and am on the second tier (second ten CG's). Even if you only use it twice, it pays for it self. You can use the coupons at the same Famcamp if you want, just only one coupon per month, and you have to have your book stamped at other Air Force Famcamps and get the ten Famcamps filled in before you can submit it your next group of coupons.
I believe all Air Force famcamps now have the packages for sale or at the ITT offic. The hold up was the Military Living Book they were giving away with the package. They were out of the old one and didn't have the new one ready.

not ALL USAF campgrounds or recreation services will have the Frequent Camper kits for sale. Many refuse to sell them, although they are required to honor the coupons and book.

For full details on the program, there's an article about the USAF Frequent Camper Program located here.
