Has anybody been to Oklahoma?
It's not one of the more popular states and I don't recall a lot about it across the internet.
We want to hit it on our trip next year, but am not sure where to go to make it worth while.
Any suggestions?
Yep, been here many years. Currently sitting at home in Oklahoma City area. Got to warn you that the summers here are HOT with high humidity. Best time to come to Oklahoma is spring and fall.
There are many things to do in Oklahoma City area. After many years of urban renewal and allowing the area to deteriorate things have turned around. Oklahoma City is rapidly becoming a destination place. The Famcamp at Tinker AFB, on the east side of town, is outstanding. The base is very large and is becoming a joint base. In addition to the AF there are over 2000 Navy personnel stationed there.
The old warehouse district on the east side of the downtown area has been turned in to an entertainment district, complete with a canal, the finest minor league baseball park (Triple A Ball) in the nation and is now home to the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly the Seattle Supersonics).
In the northeast quadrant of the city is the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Center. This is a must stop for folks who enjoy good museums. This center is owned and operated by the 17 western states. Nearby the Cowboy Hall is Remington Park, a major horse racing facility and casino.
There is plenty to do here in my hometown and is no longer just a place to pass through on I-35, I-40 or I-44. Come on down, you'll be glad you did.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is one of the best we have ever visited. When we lived in the area we bought season passes every year. We always tour it whenever we are back in town.
I completely forgot the zoo when I was listing stuff to do in OKC. The zoo is located in the same general area as Remington Park (race track/casino), the Cowboy Hall and Western Heritage Center, the Firefighters Museum, the Softball Hall of Fame and statium. Although this is my home town it is amazing what I've learned there is to do by having other RVer's come to town.
