This is the year I start my traveling. I just bought my new Ram 1500 to pull my little 12 foot Rancho El Rae camp trailer. She's a cutie. I plan on traveling the states beginning April 1 2016. I have a rough map that I will follow. But basically my only goal is to go everywhere, see everything and meet everyone. I will be doing this solo. This is the first truck and first trailer I have owned. I want to keep it simple and safe. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the group MACJay and happy RV'ing.
Suggestions:
- plan your trips well in advance; make reservations early (especially spring and summer months).
- plan your route before departing (heavy traffic, accidents, tolls $$, and non-camper friend roads).
- for the longs trips; drive day, check into camp site before sun down, and allow enough day light to set-up.
- complete walk around and check list before each trip. I have seen campers on the highway leaving antennas up and vents open (flapping in the wind).
- boondock in Walmart parking lots to save money and restock; good app RV Parky.
- stay in military campgrounds to save money; use this site.
- learn as much as you can about RV'ing and camping. There are a lot of savvy and salty campers out here with tons of experience, I have learned a lot just within the first year.
- most importantly HAVE FUN !!!

Aside from military campgrounds::
Buy the USA national park pass, or get it free if you are a senior. It saves half-price on national park and forest camping, and COE parks and gets you in free to a lot of national landmarks.
IF you choose the freedom of NO reservations, then arrive early at a park and find a first-come site. Later in the day at well known parks, it fills up during the camping seasons.
Link Allstays.com on your PC, and you can find SP, COE, NP, city parks and private parks and directions and pricing.
