Family of 4 getting ready to hit the road! was created by High adventure
Retiring after 32 years (29 years, 11 months, 8 days active duty and 2 years 3 months National Guard / ROTC-Simultaneous Membership Program).
Planning to spend next ~5 months on the road with my wife, two daughters (11 and 10) and two dogs. We have a 2017 F350 Super Duty Diesel, pulling a 2013 Crusader 335 Bunkhouse fifth-wheel. Total combined gross vehicle weight around 22,800 I estimate.
We will be leaving Michigan heading for Harlingen Texas with a couple nights on the road getting there.
The tentative plan is to spend about 12 days in Harlingen getting warm and decompressing with family, then slowly heading with the general itinerary being:
San Antonio, Big Bend, Carlsbad Caverns, Tomb Stone, Phoenix, San Diego (Coronado), Joshua Tree, Las Vegas (hoover damn), then getting to grand canyon area late mid to late March which we've been told is the earliest we should attempt getting in there without freezing!
Then from there, back west to the California coast, work our way North, then finally coming back east and south through Idaho falls, great salt lake, through Colorado in late May.
Originally, we weren't planning on returning to the Michigan area, but I did already accept a job with a start date of ~9 July, probably need to be back in Michigan NLT 15 June to give us enough time to clean up and prepare for the next chapter of our lives.
Looking forward to hearing from many of you and making some new friendships along the way.

Fiddlers cove on Coronado...easy but not short bicycle riding to town. Nice beach fire at nite, enjoy watch g the bud/s guys (first female into bud/s is there or she was last nov 2017?) all getting smoked...
North island Coronado pretty easy to booddock on base, park out by navy lodge, secure it with a professional looking sign saying you're "parked short time for dinner engagement/temp stop not overnite" and master at arms will think you're another service member visiting some ranking officer whose quarters are out there by the golf course...
Then use mega million dollar new gym for showers...they have a towel service so you won't need to bring your own towel...NICE!!!
