Camp Perry, OH?? was created by riverosonline
Has anyone stayed at Camp Perry? We're planning a trip to Cedar Point with the kids this summer, and the website looks like it is a nice place, but I was hoping to get some first-hand knowledge. Thanks!

Pablo,
Since Camp Perry RV Park/Campground is fairly new, I hope you can provide us with some photographs and provide current details on this park. Please submit updated campground information after your visit, and we're looking forward to your review.

We stayed at Camp Perry for (4) nights near the end of June,07 and were the only campers there. I would suggest selecting a site first before you go and register. There were only (4) picnic tables seen at this (40) site campground. We had to carry the table over (4) sites to where our motor home was parked. There are a few scattered fire pits through out the campground. There is no playground located on this base - we found a nice lake front park in Port Clinton where the grandchildren played on swings and sliding boards. We did go to Cedar Point, took a boat over to Put n' Bay and drove through the Animal Wildlife Safari. I don't know if I would stay there again - it is high priced and it offers nothing other than full hook-ups - no cable TV. No outside restrooms but it does have a small beach which is a short walk/drive from campground. Campground offers no shade - trees are just recently planted. Sites are paved blacktop - but are narrow - so your door probably will open to grassy area. Do see some young people who must come here for summer camp - a lot of marching and drilling.

I did a drive-by on the way back from Port Clinton to Toledo. I'd have to agree with the last poster. There's not much to write home about. We just stayed at the Wright Pat Famcamp over Father's day weekend. It seems that $29 a night is way too high for this campground. I'd stay at East Harbor State Park. You'd be a little closer to Cedar Point without paying the $75 a night at their campground (which is actually pretty nice).

i couldn't tell how old your post was. my wife and i have stayed the past three years (08 to 10) at camp perry. it is a very clean park. all of the lots are paved and fairly level. no problem backing into most of the lots. it is extremely well maintained. grass is cut, trash is emptied. used to be no dogs allowed. the sheriff's dept and highway patrol come through on a regular basis. but i have never felt unsafe or worried about someone taking anything. all are full hookups with 30 and 50 amp plug in's. bath house is very clean. beware of may fly or fish fly season. they can be an annoying. also beware of the national rifle matches. this is camp perry's money maker. even if you are military, they will force you to move out of the rv park to make room for the shooters. military and civilian. i really didn't like being booted off for a civilian shooter. i've paid my dues (27 years) and shouldn't have to be kicked off the lot. you can return after the shoot is over but by that time, you've missed the best part of the summer.
