This review was posted for The Colonies Travel Park under what once was Fort Monroe, VA. "The Park is reopening this weekend. 7/06/2012."
I called the posted number and it's not a working one. What is the deal on this one? Is it still a military CG or has it been converted to a civilian commercial CG?

Great timing.... I recently received prices, contact info, etc. However, it is now a commercial RV Park. I don't list information for commercial RV Parks.
However, I've attached the information I received for your reference.
"The Colonies RV Park" at Fort Monroe, VA is no longer a military owned and operated RV Park.

Makes me wonder how many of our military campgrounds will eventually fall into this privatizing. Right scary.

Cannot speak to the RV park, but I spent my last almost 10 years on AD at Ft Monroe. One heckva neat place, lots to see and do. I was saddened they closed it, don't think these old posts should be closed down.

I agree this Fort is unique and seeped in history. Perfect location for the area to see and do so much. We would still go there as we found it such a great place. Hopefully not much will change and if memory serves I think I read somewhere it will be designated as a National Park but have not researched it lately.

The Colonies RV and Travel Park is Commercial now. Patricia and Patrick O'Connell are wonderful people and they are doing great things. We stayed there 3 times last summer. I need to run by and say Hi.
