After attending "THE RALLY" at Daytona Beach last April, we had planned and reserved a site to spend a few days at Pelican's Roost to relax and unwind as a family, before heading home to Virginia. (I have 2 older teenagers). We normally attend Samboree's and Chapter events, and this was one of those rare occassions for just the 4 of us to camp and relax. I am active duty ARMY close to retirement (April 08 - 24 years). After our stay we know we have definetly found a place that we will come back to again in the future. The staff was very helpful. The rates for what you get can NOT be beat. The free internet was a great bonus for us to check in back home and the kids to connect again with friends. The Free Ice, Free use of the kitchen, Nice lounge area, and most important, all the friendly and helpful retirees in the campground made this place special. Despite what I read in another post, we never had a problem finding a washer or dryer available for use. The long walks on the beach were great. The pizza night offered during our stay was also great. My only negative comments would be that because the campground is soooo close to the open water, that with the wind blowing, it does cause a salt buildup on your vehicles. Our site was 2nd row, so all new campers and other vehicles entering the campground caused a dust kick up that would blow our direction. BUT, that did not stop us from walking out of our trailer each morning with a cup of coffee and sitting there enjoying the warm ocean air blow by. We will be back!
