Stopped here on our trip out to Albuquerque and on our way back. We actually got the same site both times. As you enter there is a mailbox with a pamphlet that has helpful base information. There is also a sign for you to call the camp host, who informed us which site we would be on. (Only one available). The base map in the pamphlet is blurry and unreadable. We attempted to use the...

This is a beautiful campground overlooking a small pond and the Arkansas countryside. Having read all the warnings about the culvert at the entrance, we took special care to look out for it. They are working in that area, so signage was missing, but it isnt hard to miss the campground. The sites are nicely spaced and were in need of some grass mowing. Being stationed just up the road at Ft Myer, we have found Lunga to be agreat place for a quiet escape. For larger trailers/motorhomes the optimal sites are few and far between, but during warmer climates when the off site dump station is open, more sites are available. Our visits here usually occur in February. We have gone other times, and know what sites to ask for when making the reservations. One thing this place offers most...

April 2006

After attending "THE RALLY" at Daytona Beach last April, we had planned and reserved a site to spend a few days at Pelican's Roost to relax and unwind as a family, before heading home to Virginia. (I have 2 older teenagers). We normally attend Samboree's and Chapter events, and this was one of those rare occassions for just the 4 of us to camp and relax. I am active duty ARMY close to retirement (April 08 - 24 years)....
