Nice place, friendly staff, noisy train and a great place to be. Lot's to do in Colorado Springs. Garden of the Gods, Mountains, and fires. I was on the golf course when the black Forest Canyon fire started. It wasn't pretty far and lasted long time. Being a retired firefighter, I can appreciate the hard work those guys put in to get in under control. I was long gone by the time they accomplished it. Commissary and BX were great....
I like Grassy Pond, but it's quite far from the Moody AFB and Valdosta. But the staff is friendly and helpful. Sites are fine. Bathrooms are clean. Overall to me it's a 4. Added benefit...seeing my son, his wife and my grandson. Along with my son's inlaws... It's a win/win.
Big base..Good golf...nice commissary and BX. Played the base Golf Course and enjoyed the walk. Pretty good value considering the views of mountains, track right next to the campground for exercise and plenty to do in the area.
You just have to love the Huntsville, AL area. They are respectful of all veterans, and the space program. There are literally hundreds of things to do in the area. Plenty of eating establishments, plenty of parks and nice golf courses in the area. The 36 holes on Post are fine and fun to play, though a little expensive to play at $37 for a green fee and cart. The commissary and BX are great. Having to stop at the...
This place has all a Veteran could want...Quiet, secluded, (except for Fri and Sat AM early), close enough to plenty of places to eat (even the Golf course has a very reasonable Breakfast and Lunch menu that is very reasonable that closes around 3 PM), purchase seafood, drive to the beach out on the ocean, and see the sights around a beautiful old southern town like Beaufort, SC. I found relatives in the National Cemetery and I'm from Florida. You...
Nothing changes here...It's merely great!!!! Played a little golf and headed up the road. I always stop here on my out of FL and on the way home to FL. I'll see ya'll in very late Oct.
If everything in this park were as nice and accommodating as Rick, I could stay there for a month. And the truth is, most everything is that nice. But then I tend to nit-pic. A few too many homesteaders and a couple of them are in really old rigs that need to be replaced. I understand that the rent from these keep some of the Military RV parks open, but really?? Commissary and BX were both close to the...
When I called and made my reservations in June, I talked with a young man who confirmed to me that they had cable TV, and the golf courses were still, I was hoping for a lot of time to visit DC, see the sights and play some golf. The golf courses were sold to DIA and the campground did not renew the CATV. I don't like being told "X" and getting "W" without knowing ahead of time since I made...
There is a reason this is always rated as one of "the" best RV parks in the military. It's very clean, roomy, and the people there take pride in what they do. It shows. I wish they took as much care of the golf course. It's ok, but compared to the RV park, it's not great. I guess the only drawback is that it's off the beaten path. Quite a ways from I95. Kudo's to the help there. They...
This was my 3rd time to stay at Parris Island. Very little TV...Great golf at Legends of Parris Island...BX and Commissary were very adequate...no diesel on base to purchase...but the sounds of freedom all around...from rifle fire in the AM to forced marches in the PM and some mornings. Each Friday, a new group of recruits graduate. Just saw the same thing at Ft Benning in Aug. Young men and women eager to serve our country....Brings a tear to my...
Overall, this is a nice place. There isn't any security. Anybody can come in the campground. Anyone can go fishing on the pier. Anyone can use the restrooms or showers unless a camper steps up and says no. There are a lot of house trailers here. They are working to improve them. I found some of the hook-ups for RV's are quite odd in some sites. Water on wrong side, electric or cable far away. It's just weird. But it...
Nice place to stop and stay for a few days. Hadn't seen a B-52 since 1968. They fly regular here. Played golf at the base's golf course. Caught it at the wrong time. They had just aerified and sanded the greens a week before, but that's life. It's a necessary thing to to. The campgrounds were clean, sites were roomy though it seemed like a few people had been there for some time. Campers were parked there and not a...
The directions were perfect and even my 3 yo GPS could locate the park. The bath and shower room could use updating, but were clean while I was there. The people running the FAMCAMP were nice as can be. The civilian parties were a little loud with their music. I guess they rent the pavilions out to help pay for the running of the camp. I didn't see anyone rent a boat while I was there. I did get to...
Really a nice place with great people. The other poster's have it right. It's a gem. Sites are narrow because of the trees (couldn't put out my awning but could have chosen another site if I wanted). Cable works great. Good signal with my Verizon phone and internet card. People here are very friendly and I'll stop here again on my way west next spring.
This has become my favorite place in SO.CAL. to stay as well. I also had trouble getting through earlier in the summer to reserve a place. I asked for a spot close to the showers and laundry but got moved to where it was a trek with my laundry. Not a serious problem, but when I reserved, I was told I would be close. There is not a lot on this base in the way of playgrounds for kids, commissary,...
