Upcoming updates and suggestions.

Winter is when I have time to make major improvements to the website and Directory software. One of the major improvements planned is a better integrated forums area. Hopefully, you haven't had many problems with these forums, but my end hasn't been the smoothest. I plan to implement the new forums in December.

Since I plan to have some free time this winter, do you have any other suggestions to improve this website? I may not be able to implement them all, but most of this website and the current features are the result of your suggestions.

Another project for this winter is to develop a download flier or brochure to help advertise the website. This suggestion came from a website user to allow users to print these fliers and provide to fellow military campground campers.

larry , I think you have dne a wonderful job... although I don't want the dvd version , or the goodies we can buy, I would like to make a donation......how do I do it!

One thing I've not found, but would like a way to do it is finding other members -- where each one is at "the present" ... Maybe state by state, then inside each state, a guy could put where he is staying -- which MCG for example and the dates. Not upcoming, or reservations times, nothing that complex, but the right now today date. And maybe only if he/she was in a MCG -- not all over the place.

Then if I was in a specific state, I could look at who was in a MCG on that date if I was also there, I could stop and say hello -- or invite someone over to my site for coffee or something. Most everyone here is pretty friendly, or he/she wouldn't be in this forum ... be nice to meet some face2face.

Like, say if I drove into "Texas" and then I could look at the MCG's in Texas where I was headed and see if anyone else from the forum is in that MCG Today ... could even be a week at a time, and then drop it off the board after a week so it doesn't take up space -- because after a week it would be history and no longer relevant. So, a category STATE / DATE / MCG ... then just put your name and site number -- if you want company -- if not, don't put your name up and you stay private.

So then if I clicked on the state, under it for that date or that week, you would just post your name and site ... seems easy, but Larry would know better how much work that would be to design it.

Many will remember I once had a "User Map" that did something similar to this, but was based on the user's IP address. A website user's location showed up on a USA map. However, it didn't give as much detail AND the IP address method of determining a user's location wasn't good for our purpose. Many of us use methods of accessing the Internet that's not a true representation of our current location. So I removed it.

I would also like to see something like you suggested. I'll have to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the idea!

How about the ability post an emoticon to the outside of the message so the scanner/reader can look for questions, favorable or unfavorable comments. A logical place would be in the subject line.
