"New" Hurlburt FamCamp Under Construction

Hi Folks. I live in Fort Walton Beach, & I was on MLK Blvd, near Commando Village and saw construction vehicles, survey markers, brush being cleared and a FamCamp sign in place. So, I am assuming that this is the beginning of the new HRT campground. I just wanted to pass this along in case anyone was wondering, or I missed a prior posting.

That's good news.

Here's what it looks like today. Word is, it won't be ready until March 2013. Still no word on when they plan on closing the current facility. It's still pretty full. It's a place to park...not much else. The new facility is suppose to have 36 spots with planned expansion to 42..not quite as large as the current 50 spots, but they'll all be 30 & 50 amps (both at the same site). Since they bulldozed just about all the trees, don't expect much shade. Anyone has any questions, shoot me note!

No updates on timeline yet. Still looking at March opening from what I was told.

Was by thier last week and it does not look much diffrent than the picures. Maybe next March (2014). The old camp ground is open but it was full. They are not doing anything at the old campground, I mean anything.
