This is our favorite military campground and I reread your comments from the last time you were there and we were there at the time so I do remember the particulars. I have been staying here since they opened and as floridakamper said I firmly believe they did not purposely foul up your reservation. Kathy the Manager is top notch and her coming in on a weekend to see how she could help you shows how much she cares about the campers at the campground. The new reservation system at other Navy campgrounds has dropped reservations so I also believe that is what happened. Good luck in your travels and I too make a call one week or two before any arrival date at all campgrounds to be sure we have the reservation we expect. In our 13 years of travelling I have never been told I do not have a reservation so hope I can get the same results for another 13 years.

We're not giving up on them. We're going back next spring as we have been doing for the last 6 years. I guess I got hot because you think you have a place to stay for 10 days and get there and you don't. It's like "What do we do now?" We had to scramble to get another park. NAS Jacksonville was full. We don't do commercial campgrounds unless we have to so didn't even try that. We had reservations at Eagle Hammock for arrival on March 20. They gave us 3 additional days up front which left 6 days to worry about. Crooked River State Park adjacent to Kings Bay had availablity until the weekend. We didn' want to go there for 4 days and then move again for 2 days. We ended up at Laura S. Walker State Park at Waycross for the other 6 days. We enjoyed our stay there and arrived at Eagle Hammock on March 17.

I'd believe it was the system too, as it's new all over.

IF anyone has reservations there, might be a good idea to check them and make sure...

MY follow-up question though, with this new system, does it still allow us to come in a stay without a reservation?

We stopped at Fourth Cliff a couple times and we couldn't stay overnight even though it had five open sites. The clown at the desk was as much an idiot as I've ever seen anywhere - and would not allow us in a vacant site, even tho' it had no one scheduled.

The staff there does not know how to make a reservation, only the manager so I couldn't make one for an open site even standing right there. It's about the worst run MCG I've even been to, and though it's a nice spot right on Cape Cod Bay. The MCG is a pit, and when I looked in the showers, I wanted to go take a shower somewhere else ... yuck!!

Too bad, as it is a great spot, but horribly run.

I'm going along with the crowd here. I'll accept the fact that they just screwed up my reservations and didn't do it on purpose. It still gets you upset when this happens. The first time we came to Eagle Hammock several years ago they had lost our reservations. When I had called to make reservations I asked for a confirmation number. The person said I was in the system and didn't need a number. Well, I wasn't in the system when I got here. But. They put us in overflow with electric and water and moved us to a full hookup site the next day. I didn't have time to get upset then. We are at Eagle Hammock now and loving it. The place is thinning out today. At least 6 units have pulled out.

Hey Frank next time for Pelican Rost have them send you a email or a Text to your phone as a confirmation proof, a digital paper trail always work and keeps things legal.

They couldn't even cancelled the April 10 reservation until I called them twice from the road. I still don't know if I'm cancelled or not even though I have a confirmation number. I'll wait to see if I get a bill.
