Campgrounds in San Antonio area was created by Barneys
We will be heading for Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX next Sunday, Dec.31. We have reservations there for one month. After that, we have no reservations. Does anybody have any suggestions for some parks in the San Antonio area that would be good to stay for a couple of months? We have thought about trying to get into Laughlin AFB at Del Rio, but can't make a reservation there until we get to San Antonio and have no clue about site availability. We have no problems with staying at private campgrounds or State and County parks either. If anybody has any recommendations, it would surely be appreciated.
This will be our first time snowbirding in Texas so don't know what to expect.

Hi Barnes,
We stayed at Laughlin last April for a week. Excellent park and very close to everything. We called from Fort Bliss just a few days in advance and got a site reservation. Drove right in and hooked up and then went and checked-in. The camp host met us without even being called and helped with everything. There is another Mil RV park out on the lake but it's pretty isolated but great if all you have is fishing on your mind.

I posted a picture of our rig - 38' Everest - today.

NAS Corpus Christi is nice. Big sites, new laundry and all kinds of water sports. Right on the water.

You might want to think about Shields RV park at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. You can make reservations up to six months in advance. I realize that it is over 200 miles from San Antonio but the area has a lot to offer. Check it out.

Hi FastEagle
I noticed that you stated " I posted a picture of our rig - 38' Everest - today" and after reading your signature on another post - 04 Dodge "The Big One" it made me curious what your rig looks like. It sounds a lot like ours. We like looking at photos of other rigs (share the pride)however we could not find your photo. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Let me know if you would.

Joel,
I took your indirect suggestion and created a new board under "General Topics" where members can post a few photos of their rigs. I too, like to see what people RV in.
