Floria Camp/RV sites in Jan-Feb was created by Roadtrekker
Anyone have recent experience with site availability in Jan/Feb. We are a Roadtrek Adventurous so we can camp self-contained with generator for 3-5 days. Definitely wanna visit Key West, otherwise hit a few other S. Fla sites just to fish, kayak and explore.
Any thoughts or suggestions most appreciated.

Don't miss Everglades NP - plenty of sites in the Flamingo area, and Royal Palm is a "don't miss it" for sure. No HU, but water available and dumps.
Lots of kayaking throughout the park

Camp Blanding at Stark Florida is a good on. They have a lot of open spots this time of the year. They also give you the 3rd night free, winter months. It is on the lake, a real nice place to stay. There number is 904-682-3104.

Key West is great, but if you should expect to dry camp from now, December through Mid- April, in February the rotation is about 30 days, with a 200+ on the waiting list. Active Duty have priority, but only for the first two weeks in hookups. The good thing is no eligible Camper is turned away, usually water and a dump station are nearby. If you are only at the Key West NAS for a short period I would recommend staying at Thrumbo, by the Coast Guard facility, it's within walking to downtown. You will need to stop at Sigsbee, to register. Lots of things to do in the Keys, either outdoors, on the water, or great bars and places to eat.

Previous info regarding Everglades NP by monkey44 may be a bit outdated. We stayed there last March ( 2011). Flamingo does have full hookups while the Royal Palm CG does not. We stayed 2 days at each and are going back again in '12. Very nice place. They also have one at Midway along Rt. 41. That has hookups also.

Monkey44 said "No HU" not FHU's and only some sites in Flamingo have HU, most do not. And, I agree, Midway is a nice stop too, but no HU there either, actually two CG's at the Midway area, one is on the pond and one one'just ground'
Regardless, Everglades is a fine place to visit. Unfortunately, much of it is damaged from storms about six years ago, and has not been rebuilt as of last year. CG is operating, and the marina, but the other facilities are not, no motel, no cafe, no restaurant, altho the museum is open (small one) ... lots of wildlife tho, and kayaking, and hiking, bike-riding.
