I drove into the parking lot the other day. There's LOTS to still be done. But it can be finished in a few months if they work hard.
The area is all level dirt and large pipes being installed. The bathroom building was up and framed in but not finished.
Our reluctance in believing they will be finished this summer is in their history of taking years to get this far. My other concern is they will probably charge an "arm and a leg" when open again.
I talked to someone at the campground reservation desk (by phone) today, and they said the thinking is that the campground would open back up this fall. The call did not leave me with a feeling of confidence.
We stopped by Fiddler's Cove the end of April and the staff thought the renovation would be done by September but don't hold your breath. The ground had been cleared, utilities in, some slabs poured and a new bathroom/shower building built about where the old bathroom building used to be in the middle of the park. Looks like about 54 spaces with three rows total. Of course the price will go up. My guess is $30-40 a day.
Made a quick stop at Fiddlers today. Looks good so far, a lot still to be done. Looks like all the slots are back in, both rows. Anticipated opening is late October/November timeframe. All reservations will be made thru the DOD website with a 30 day max. Must leave the park for 14 days before returning. No indication on pricing.
